Top of the World

This few chapters and finally the end of the book had been very exciting because it is now the rivalry against Novak Djokovic. Djokovic is younger than Nadal and he has a lot of potential. This last chapters of the the first time both get to play together, the first time that Rafa won, the first time that Novak won, and how are the winning vs. loosing right now (23vs.23). How Rafa describes Novak and how Novak describes Rafa.

"Djokovic is a fantastic player"

This is an important quote because that proves my statement that Rafa says that Djokovic has an amazing potential and good stuff.

This picture is at Wimbledon with Rafael Nadal
and Novak Djokovic.

"There are players who burst angry when the opponent dominates but does not make sense. All you get is you harm yourself. What you need to do is think: "I can not do anything to stop it, then why bother?" "

This quote is very important to not just to me but to all the tennis players in the world who understands this. This quote is really important because when you are in a tennis match and you are very angry you should not get more angry because your opponent is dominating you, it doesn't have to affect you. If your opponent if dominating you, you have to do something, that something is not give up and keep trying.

In conclusion, this book had really showed me a lot. Now I know that I am not the only one suffering because my school is hard, and if you keep trying you should get what you want.

Davis Cup 2004

In these few chapters it tells how the Spanish team that was Carlos Moyá, Rafael Nadal, Tommy Robredo, and Juan Carlos Ferrero. Rafa tells you how were the stress in the matches and against who were they playing. The cuarterfinal was against Netherlands (4-1). Semifinal was against France (4-1). The finals were against United States (3-2).

"It was enough to have eyes in the face the day before the final of the 2004 Davis Cup to realize the upset Juan Carlos Ferrero and Tommy Robredo, displaced from their place in history by the young emerging eighteen, Nadal." (154)

This quote shows me that all the team members were very stress out because it was the second final and they get an eighteen year old boy on the team and that was very stressed.

"Moyá knew very well that behind the mask is placed for gladiator matches there was a suspicious and sensitive soul ..." (160)

This quote shows me that Carlos Moyá has the courage to play and has been there before. He was in the team before, when they won in year 2000.

This picture is taken at 2004 when the Spanish team
 won against United States.

In these few chapters this book has been very stressing and a lot like my life, because when Rafa was at school he has to catch up a lot and spend his recess and extracurricular classes and that he was very stressed. I think that in the following chapters would talk maybe how he started or something else.

Roger Federer, my greatest rival

This part of the book is about Rafa telling us about how was the rivalry against Roger Federer, all the finals, victories vs. looses. He tells how was the first final he had against him. He was very nervous and he thought that all the final were between the number 1 and number 2 of the world. The only one that Rafa and Roger were scared of was Novak Djokovic.

"...I do not see any sense to play a sport that you do not give effort." (82)

This is what Rafael Nadal said about playing against Roger and Novak. he always gives the best of him in every single match against any rival, the good thing about him is that he never gives up.
From left to right, Novak Djokovic (3) Rafael Nadal (2)
Roger Federer (1)

"The closest thing to an idol I've had in my life is absolutely Tiger Woods. But not for his swings or his way to give the ball, but by his lucidity, his determination, his attitude. I love that." (149)

That is what makes Rafael Nadal a different person, a different player. His idol is a golf player, that is a lot of difference in sports. Every tennis player has to have a good head. I mean, good concentration, determination, and that is what every golf player has. That is why Rafa admires him.

I think that in the next chapters Rafa will be talking about his rivalry against Novak Djokovic. These few chapters had been very good to me because I have the same rivalry against a girl. I think that is pretty much the same.

From Uncle to Coach

Rafael Nadal's uncle, Toni Nadal, once dreamed about being a tennis player, a professional, and a champion. But what Rafa thinks is that he need more capacity to "kill in the court". To kill on the court, I mean to have more like a decision to make a good shot by thinking well. All these 3 or 4 chapters shows how Toni trained Rafa en some other kids and insist to make good decisions on the court.

"Toni once dreamed of becoming a tennis champion. Since he was young, excelled in the sport, he forged a reputation and got to be one of the best players of Mallorca." (78)

This quote shows how Toni really dreamed about being a tennis player but he never could. He really was very recognized at Mallorca, Spain.

"Toni cites the case of golfer Jack Nicklaus, who once said in an educational video that young players advised them to 'first give strong on the ball and then worry about putting it in the hole'". (79)

This is Rafa and Toni on a training

This quote shows that Toni make that first he makes people play hard and then makes them to get the ball into the court.

I think that Toni I really into tennis and makes everybody who trains with him to be a good person and play hard and make the ball get into the court. It also makes then to be consistent. I think it will talk later about all his family that makes he be famous.

The Beginning

This book called "Rafa, my history" is a book about a tennis player named Rafael Nadal. This book tells all about Rafa, since he was a little boy who started tennis, to a professional tennis player. This first chapter is about how his career started. How he won a Grand Slam (tournament that if you win, you get €2.3 million dollars). He defeated Roger Federer. The number one in the world and the better in the history of tennis. How he felt when he played, and all of that stuff.

"The only thing I had to do was to force Federer's backhand so I can close with the forehand..."  (24)

This was Rafa's strategy to defeat Federer in the Wimbledon final on 2008.

"I left the locker room the first, pressing the racket with force, I went through corridors decorated with photos of the champions of previous tournaments and place subject trophies in the cabinet, descended a few steps, I turned left and went out into the fresh air Joule English and magical green Centre Court." (28)

This was how Rafa felt when he was heading into the stadium. He was very nervous to get out and play, since the last year he lost the final against the same person, Roger Federer.

On  the left, Roger Federer (finalist). On the right Rafael Nadal
 (the champion).

I like a lot this book, and it is just starting but I like it already because I want to my life be like that. I also play tennis and I want to be a Wimbledon champion, just like Roger Federer was.

The Dance

Annemarie is disappoints because every person in the school has a boyfriend or girlfriend. She is still in love with Mark until Jack tells her that Mark invited a girl to the dance. Annemarie don't want to go to the dance because she is broken-heart. Annemarie ends up going to the dance and danced with Mark until the girl comes and takes his hands. Mark at  the end of the party, makes fun of Annemarie because he thinks that he isn't even a girl after all. Later she sees that Mark kisses her girlfriend, and Annemarie's heart breaks. Later everybody tells Annemarie that Jack get into a fight because of what Mark said to her. Jack likes Annemarie. They kiss and Jack gets suspended for school.

" 'Shut up, I only danced with her because I felt sorry for her. She doesn't even know how to dance like a girl' "(220)

This quote shows how embarrassed was Annemarie when Mark say that. She starts to cry and Mark sees her.
I think this was how Annemarie think
when Mark tell that to his friends

"Thats when I kiss him. Without thinking, I just lean forward and do it." (248)

This is the last part of the book when Annemarie wants Jack to kiss her and she just do it. She was so happy, she moved on of Mark. She didn't like him anymore, she like Jack Connelly now.
This is how I think Jack and Annemarie
were in the stair when Jack went and pick
her up

I feel bad because the book has ended but the ending was very unexpected because she hate Jack Connelly for all his life and then the are a couple. I like the book very much and I think that I will be reading more books like this.

Pijama Party

Annemarie recently learns that Mairi is adopted. Elaine and Annemarie were studying in Annemarie's house. Elaine wants to go to Mairi's pijama party, but she won't go without Annemarie. Annemarie refuses to go, but after a log time she say yes. Mairi's parents let the 5 girls alone, and Mairi get wild and makes all the guests drink beer. Later Annemarie`s mom really drunk and forget to go pick her from school. Her parents get into a huge fight and decide that Thy should live apart, but Annemarie doesn't know that. Annemarie gets in a fight with Mairi and later apologizes.

This is that face the other people in the
 cafeteria made.
" 'My mother says that your mother's a drunk, and that your father's leaving.' She blurts out.
'Shut up. Shut up your fat mouth. She's not your real mother anyway; your real mother didn't even want you' " (196)

This quote is about how Annemarie explodes in from of all the cafeteria because Mairi told that her mother was a drunk and her parents were getting divorced.

"It wasn't fair of daddy to say that about mama never being sober"(150)

This part is when Annemarie's parents are fighting each other about how drunk is her mother. Daddy is telling that he was surprised about how can she remember stuff if she is drunk every time.

I think that Annemarie is going to be better friends with Jack and Mark is going to get away a little bit and Annemarie is going to stop liking him for good.

Halloween

In these next chapters, Shug (Annemarie), wants to go trick-or-treating in her neighborhood. She invites Elaine. Every guy on the town won't stop looking at Elaine, she dressed up like Daisy from The Great Gatsby. Time passed and kids start growing up. Elaine gets a boyfriend, Huhg, Celia gets also a boyfriend, Eli Parker. Annemarie starts thinking that she is getting away from Elaine and Celia. She feels sorry about herself.

"I think Elaine is breaking up with me" (138)

This quote shows that Shug feels alone and she thinks that she is getting away from her sister too.

"We run into boys on Thurston Street. When I see the way the boys look at Elaine, my stomach turns. Mark stares at her like he's never seen a girl before. Even Jack looks at her, and he doesn't look at any girl" (121)

This quote is explaining how Annemarie is jealous about Elaine because every boy on the street stares at her, even Mark, and that is really affecting Annemarie.
This is how Elaine was dressed in Halloween

I think that Annemarie's is jealous about Elaine because she thinks that Elaine is prettier that she is. I also think that in the next chapters Elaine and Annemarie might get into a fight and and Celia would broke up with Eli Parker.

Pool Party

In these few chapters this book had been funny. At first Annemarie and Mark's promotion had a pool party witch Annemarie had a fight with Jack Connelly, her worst enemy, about who dive better. Mark had invited Annemarie to dinner after the pool party, later Mark walks Annemarie home. When she arrives home, she has an incredible surprise. She's father is home!  Annemarie thinks that because father came home, all the family are fighting each other.

This is how Annemarie and Mark walk together to their houses
This quote explains that Annemarie is in love with Mark, and she feels sadness when he didn't pick her up on her house.

"The first night is always good...the second night is ok...The third night, is the problem" (91)

This quote is explaining that Annemarie thinks that the first night daddy always sees how clever and cute mom is. The second night is literally okay nobody talks to no one. The third night is when everybody starts fighting with each other by anything.

"So good that I blurt out ' Hey, how come you didn't come by this morning?'... Mark stares at his feet. 'Tommy and I walked over together'" (76)

This quote says that Annemarie is mad at Mark because he didn't come this morning to pick her up to go to school.

I think this book until here is entertaining me a lot because it gives you that felling of embarrassment and it attracts you more into the book. I think that Annemarie is going to stay in the friendzone, because if Mark does not like her, you know, she is staying on friendzone. I also think that Jack is growing up and is going to make peace with Annemarie.

Love is in the Air

In "Shug" the story made by Jenny Han is about a girl named Annemarie that lived in a small town named Clementon, in New Jersey. She is very good friend with Mark Findley, a twelve year old boy that she likes, and Elaine Kim, a new student that came from New York. Annemarie has a elder sister, named Celia that is the most beautiful girls in the whole town. She starts to ask advice from Celia about boys and, how she can make Mark like her back.

"It's as real as anything I've ever felt, and when I am old, people might try and tell me different , I might even tell myself different, but I know that at this moment, I love Mark Findley." (24)

This quote is taken from the book and is about Annemarie telling her sister that she is completely in love with Mark Findley. He is her best friend and they go to everything ogether, but Mark doesn't like her back.

This is how Mark and Annemarie's relationship is.
"Mark glares at me. 'You're just jealous because Celia's prettier than you.'" (3)

Here, in this quote shows that Mark is still immature and he sees Annemarie just like a friend. Annemarie and Mark fight a lot but they can never be mad at each other. They are trustful with each other and they have never really fight.

These book is very good and awkward to me because sometimes it says very embarrassing things that make you blush, but sometimes it makes go like AWW!! Their relationship is very good and every girl with his boy best friend would like to be like that. They are very cute together. I have a friend that is like that, I like him as a friend because he is so trustful and I think he thinks the same about me.
